Lawrence Morris Lambe (1849-1934)
was one of Canada's
greatest paleontologists and geologists.
He worked for many years with the Geological Survey of
Canada (GSC)
and did much to bring
dinosaurs and
fossils
to public attention.
Lambe is perhaps best remembered for his work in western
Canada.
He was responsible for discovering, describing and naming a number of
different
types of dinosaurs.
Apart from dinosaurs,
he also the
Cretaceous
crocodilian, Leidyosuchus,
and studied
fossil
fish, insects, corals and plants.
The dinosaur Lambeosaurus
was named (by William Arthur Parks in
1923)
in honor of Lambe.
