Yangchuanosaurus Facts

Here is a summary of some of the key facts about Yangchuanosaurus:
  1. Yangchuanosaurus was a genus of dinosaur.

  2. "Yangchuanosaurus" means "Yongchuan lizard" (after the Yongchuan District in China where it was first found).

  4. Yangchuanosaurus was a Theropod - a member of a group of related bipedal dinosaurs that included the ancestors of birds (although Yangchuanosaurus was not itself an ancestor of birds).

  5. Yangchuanosaurus lived between about 166 million years ago and 140 million years ago, during the late Jurassic and early Cretaceous periods.

  6. Yangchuanosaurus lived in China.

  7. Yangchuanosaurus was a carnivore (meat-eater).

  8. Yangchuanosaurus was about 33 feet (10 meters) long.
