Eupodophis is believed to be from a slightly earlier time period than
Najash
(another early snake), and unlike
Najash,
Eupodophis, along with other early snakes from the same general region
(Haasiophis and
Pachyrhachis),
was found in marine deposits and thus must have lived in a marine environment.
Eupodophis was about 33½ inches (85 centimeters) long, and
had hind limbs about ¾ (2 centimeters) long. The hind limbs would
probably have been have little or no practical use.
